John DiCocco, 54, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 14th, 2022, while at home surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Schenectady, NY, son of the late Anthony and Domenica DiCocco. He grew up the youngest of three siblings, whom he always kept laughing; he was the center of their world. John was dearly loved by his wife and children. His strength and ability to push through any and every challenge thrown his way, while ensuring his family never felt any burden, was admirable. He was everyone's rock and his loss will be felt immensely, but his love will remain strong within the hearts of all his family. John is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Brenda DiCocco. John and Brenda have been inseparable since they first met as teenagers and have built a beautiful life together. They settled down in Princetown, NY and built a home on Brenda's family property where they raised their three children and many animals. Their love for one another was truly special, the kind of love everyone dreams of. John graduated from Draper High School, class of 1986. He then graduated from Hudson Valley and RPI with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an Engineer at Atlas Copco Comptec for 16 years, and then at General Electric Co. where he ended his career as a Contract Manager. He served on the Schalmont School Board for multiple years while his children attended. John was best known for his intelligence, humor, infectious positivity, and humble demeanor. He loved to spend time with his family, play golf, and travel with his wife and children. John spent nearly every work lunch break with his dear mother Domenica, playing cards and cracking jokes while enjoying her home cooked meals. If John wasn't spending his weekend at one of his children's soccer tournaments when they were growing up, he could almost always be found with his family and friends, playing cards, hosting poker nights, enjoying a home cooked Sunday dinner, or mastering the grill with a fresh hotdog in hand- a skill he learned from his father, Anthony. In addition to his wife, John is also survived by his three children, Diana DiCocco of Princetown, NY, Rachel (Paul) Corradi of Princetown, NY, and Daniel DiCocco of Princetown, NY, as well as his sisters, Rosa (Frank) Campanella of Rotterdam, NY, and Gina (Nick) Piccirillo of Rotterdam, NY. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and close friends whom he loved and cherished dearly. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Parish, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY, 12303. Burial will follow at St. Cyril & Method Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's memory to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY.
