Driving down the oak-canopied dirt road toward 708 Eugenia Road in Veromar you feel as if you’ve taken a step back in time.

“It’s like a picture out of an old movie. It’s so pretty,” says Robin Lloyd of the Central Beach home he and his wife Brenda bought 20 years ago. “They declared this a canopy road and they can’t pave it.

“I’ve lived all over the barrier island and my favorite thing about here is the convenience.

We can walk to Bobby’s, stop at the Village Beach Market or head down to the boardwalk. The kids can actually walk to the park. It’s convenient – a wonderful area to live in,” says Robin Lloyd.

What really sold Brenda on the couple’s charming island bungalow was the vaulted ceiling, recalls Lloyd. He and his wife recently updated the home with the assistance of Coastal Interiors, opening up rooms and creating a spacious floorplan.

“It’s a very adaptable house,” says Lloyd.

Skylights and a tongue and groove vaulted ceiling with beams makes for a bright interior. Crown molding, custom cabinets, plantation shutters and mother of pearl inlay are just a few of the fine details that add hints of elegance to the home’s beachy vibe.

“This house was a three-bedroom. They took the two rooms, the master and middle room, and made it a whole master suite so it’s quite lovely,” says Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty agent Michelle Clarke.

The house is surrounded by lush, mature landscaping and has a wide, brick-paved driveway. A paved path leads to the front porch, the perfect spot to sit and watch friends and neighbors out for their daily walk. There’s even room to park your boat or RV alongside the driveway.

“The neighbors are friendly,” adds Clarke, who lives across the street. “I feel so fortunate to be able to live this lifestyle. It’s healthy. There are so many different walks of life. It’s such a great spot.”

Built with entertaining in mind, the dining room and custom bar with a 160-bottle wine refrigerator are at the core of the house, with the island kitchen and access to the back porch located at the rear of the space.

Custom-built cabinets with quartz countertops and a herringbone backsplash add an elegant touch to the pristine kitchen. An island provides a place for casual dining and an area to meal prep convenient to the high-end, stainless steel appliances. A cooktop, microwave drawer and pantry ensure you can handle any size crowd.

The family room, laundry room and garage are located on the western side of the house while the guest bedroom and owner’s suite, down a short hallway, complete the east side.

The owner’s suite runs the width of the house. The bedroom overlooks the front yard with a short hallway lined with walk-in closets leading to the bathroom. A Toto washlet, jetted tub and double vanity equip this luxurious retreat with garden views.

Outside, from the screened porch, you can watch the little ones or the family dog run around in the fenced backyard. The porch is spacious enough for a seating and dining area so you can enjoy the tropical surroundings while avoiding the sun and inclement weather.

At the center of the backyard a fire pit glows brightly in the evenings and family gathers around to roast marshmallows and chat about days gone by.

“It’s a great outdoor space. There’s a nice covered area with plenty of room for a pool and the fire pit,” says Clarke.

Veromar, in the section of Central Beach located just north of the Merrill P. Barber Bridge, is convenient to mainland shopping and a short walk to the beach and the Ocean Drive shopping district.

Cultural offerings are nearby at Riverside Theatre and the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Riverside Park offers a tennis facility and a boat launch just south of the neighborhood. The City Marina and an off-leash dog park are a short bike ride away.
