Notice of Production of Materials for High-performance Semiconductors in Taiwan

Central Glass Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, the "Company") hereby announces that we have decided to shift to a production and supply system at Central Glass Taiwan Co., Ltd. of our high purity fluorine blended gas for semiconductor manufacturing (hereafter, "fluorine blended gas"), which is currently produced at our Ube Plant (Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture) and sold in Taiwan.

Due to the progress of digital transformation, demand is expanding for high-performance semiconductors, leading to their vigorous development and manufacturing in Taiwan, and also boosting demand for fluorine blended gases used in their production. Our fluorine blended gas is a product that is also excellent in its low global warming potential and contributes greatly to the reduction of global warming through the reduction of carbon emissions.

We have already agreed to acquire the land lease within Southern Taiwan Science Park, and we are moving ahead with a full-scale investigation to prepare for the set-up of a manufacturing site.

We are also considering installing capabilities for the development of products for the semiconductor industry at the site. We believe that our development and production system, which includes our subsidiary ERCT (*1) that is already active in Taiwan, will be dramatically strengthened, further reinforcing our relations with Taiwanese customers.

The Company will continue to contribute to the future of carbon neutrality by developing a global system for the development, production and sales of fluorine-related gases.

ERCT is a research and development base of materials for front-end processing of cutting-edge semiconductors as well as materials for next-generation displays.
