Keeping things cool under the hood can be difficult with all of the heat the engine puts off. Design Engineering (DEI) has a full line of gold products that help keep things cool and add an aesthetic appeal to any vehicle.

Cool Cover Gold / Air Tube Cover Kit

DEI’s Cool Cover Gold helps reflects heat from air tubes and prevent heat soak into air tubes and cold air intakes. This product is easy to install with a full-length hook & loop closure design.

“The Cool Cover Gold is a high-temperature metalized polyimide lamination, bonded to a robust 20 ounces heat-treated glass fiber base material,” Mike Buca of DEI explained. “Cool Cover Gold will reflect radiant heat from air tubes and promotes cooler, denser, more powerful air charge.”

Cool Cover Gold will fit up to a four-inch diameter tube and comes in a four-inch by 28-inch piece (PN 010486).

Reflect-A-Gold – Heat Reflective Sheet And Tape

Reflect-A-Gold is available in sheets and tape while being used to protect a wide range of items while handling continuous temps up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. It resists UV degradation for long-term durability, is only 0.0065-inch thick, and the adhesive protected by a release liner rated up to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Reflect-A-Gold is a metalized polyamide polymer laminated glass cloth with a high-temperature pressure-sensitive adhesive for use in extreme temperature swing environments,” Buca said. “It is lightweight and easy to apply and won’t lift off. It is a highly effective material for firewalls, fuel cells, engine covers, under hoods, engine compartment, bulkheads, seat bottoms and anything or area that needs protection from heat.”

The Reflect-A-Gold sheets are available in 12-inch by 12-inch, 24-inch by 150 feet, 12-inch by 24-inch, and 24-inch by 24-inch. The Reflect-A-Gold tape is available in 1-1/2-inch to 2-inch wide rolls

Heat Sheath Gold helps solve the problem of heat and abrasions causing failure to lines, hoses, and wires. This will help protect anything that is run in the engine bay or along the chassis where heat could come from the exhaust.

“The Heat Sheath Gold is manufactured from our high-temperature metalized polyimide lamination, bonded to a robust 20-ounce heat-treated glass fiber base material, the DEI line of Gold sleeving will protect and keep components cool in the most demanding applications,” Buca said. “It is able to reflect direct heat up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit makes DEI Gold line sleeving the perfect choice to keep critical lines, air intakes, and hoses cool and protected.”

The gold sleeving is available in 3/4-inch by 36-inch (PN 010914), 1-1/4-inch by 36-inch (PN 010915),  1/2-inch by 36-inch (PN 010916), 1-inch by 36-inch (PN 010917), 2-1/4-inch by 36-inch (PN 010918), Heat Shroud Gold 1/2-inch 1-1/4-inch by 36-inch (PN 010458), and Cool Cover Gold 3-inch to 4-inch by 28-inch (PN 010486).

Heat Screen Gold Metalized Radiant Matting

DEI’s Heat Screen Gold Metalized Radiant Matting is high temperature resistant and can be placed in vehicle interior over high heat area’s such as transmission tunnel, mufflers, and catalytic converters to help keep the interior cool. This product is also good for covering intake air tubes, air boxes, firewalls, floorboards, and even protecting body panels.

“It is manufactured from a high temperature rated metalized polyimide film bonded to a robust 20 oz. heat-treated glass fiber base material, Heat Screen Gold is designed to reduce the harmful and damaging effects which heat can produce,” Buca explained. “Heat Screen Gold, only .031-inch thick, is capable of reflecting direct heat up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit and 1100 degrees Fahrenheit radiant and heat flux tests have shown a 36 percent reduction of heat.”

It is available in 36-inch by 40-inch, 10 square feet (PN 010913) or 24-inch by 24-inch, 4 square feet (PN 010919). If you need a larger or different size custom sizes are also available. It needs to be mechanically fastened or applied using DEI’s Hi-Temp Adhesive.
