UPDATE (Aug. 28, 2022): An employee from one of the two Atascadero businesses that was vandalized on Saturday spoke to KSBY News and shared a clip from their surveillance camera.

The Raconteur Room says the man broke into their business by taking an empty keg and pounding down the back door.

Atascadero Polce said the suspect set off the alarm when he entered, so they responded at about 2:30 A.M. on Saturday.

Officers and the Raconteur Room said the man allegedly broke into another business as well, but he apparently did not take cash.

"After he broke in here, he went to a salon next door and punched through their window,” explained Lacy Broadstone, Raconteur Room’s bartender. “He cut himself pretty bad and just ravaged through their store and apparently stole a couple things."

Atascadero Police said on Saturday that a K9 unit was deployed for over an hour, but authorities were not able to locate the man.

Atascadero Police said they found an injured man matching the description of the suspect in the 6800 block of El Camino Real around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

"It's really upsetting that somebody would do this to a family-owned business,” added Broadstone. “It's just a shame, but luckily, we have a really good community, and we got a lot of support from it and that's great."

Vandalism and burglary charges will be filed with the SLO County District Attorney’s Office.

Atascadero Police responded to the report of a burglary at 2:34 a.m. Saturday on the 5800 block of Traffic Way.

Once at the scene, police officers found that a suspect had forced entry into two businesses.

Investigators determined the man had injured himself with broken glass and left a trail of blood.

They also learned that the suspect did not take cash.

A K9 unit was deployed for over an hour, but authorities were not able to locate the man.

The description was based on surveillance video captured at one of the vandalized businesses.

Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services also responded to the scene to treat the man.

The Rancantour Room posted on Instagram Saturday stating that a man had broken into their business and vandalized it by allegedly throwing barrels around.

Atascadero Police said vandalism and burglary charges will be filed.
