The photoelectric sensor is a type of sensor that converts the change in light intensity between the transmitting and receiving ends into a change in current for the purpose of detection.

Since the photoelectric switching output circuit and the input circuit are electrically isolated (i.e., electrically insulated), it can be used in many applications. Product Description

     The photoelectric sensor is a device used to detect the distance, absence, or presence of an 
object by using a light transmitter, often infrared, and a photoelectric receiver. They are used 
extensively in machinery, textile, metallurgy, tobacco, railway, war industry and so on. There are 
three different functional types: through-beam (opposed), retroreflective, and diffused type 
( proximity-sensing) .
 
A through-beam (opposed) arrangement consists of a receiver located within the line-of-sight of the transmitter. In this mode, an object is detected when the light beam is blocked from 
getting to the receiver from the transmitter.
 
A retroreflective arrangement places the transmitter and receiver at the same location and uses 
a reflector to bounce the light beam back from the transmitter to the receiver. An object is sensed 
when the beam is interrupted and fails to reach the receiver.
 
A diffused (proximity sensing) arrangement is one in which the transmitted radiation must reflect off 
the object in order to reach the receiver. In this mode, an object is detected when the receiver sees 
the transmitted source rather than when it fails to see it.

Working Principle

     The photoelectric switch (photoelectric sensor) is short for photoelectric proximity switch, which detects the presence or absence of an object by using the blocking bai or reflection of the light beam by the object to be detected, and the circuit is switched on by a synchronous circuit. The object is not limited to metal, and all objects that reflect light can be detected. The photoelectric sensor will be the input current in the emitter converted into a light signal shot, the receiver and then according to the strength of the light received or the presence or absence of the target object detection. Photoelectric sensor smoke alarms are common in security systems and are often used in industry to count the number of movements of a robotic arm.

Application

     The Photoelectric sensor have been used for level detection, level control, product counting, width discrimination, speed detection, cut-to-length, hole recognition, signal delay, automatic door sensing, color-coded detection, punching and shearing machines, and security, among many other applications.
