Application of Germanium windows
--Germanium windows are ideal for IR applications at a broad range of wavelengths, including use in lower power CO2 lasers.
--Germanium also has low dispersion, Ge Windows 3 - 5μm for mid-infrared applications, 3 - 12μm for broadband multispectral applications, or 8 - 12μm for thermal imaging applications. The left graft is for 3-5um DLC+AR coating transmittance curve, scratch resistance. BBAR or AR coating is also available.

--Germanium is the most commonly used material for making optical lens and optical window in high efficiency infrared imaging system. Due to its wide transmission range and opacity of visible light, germanium is very suitable for infrared lasers and optical systems for manufacturing optical elements. Germanium is an ideal material for low power imaging systems due to its high refractive index and minimal surface curvature.Due to the high surface reflectivity of the substrate, AR coating is used for germanium elements.
